Our fourth Kira Summer School was held July 30 to August 10, 2001, on the Amherst College campus, with the topic "Ways of Knowing." The program explored the interplay between scientific and other ways of encountering the world and their associated dimensions of meanings and values. Special attention was given to the possible integration of these different perspectives in daily life. See our People at Kira page for details on the Summer School faculty.

Also, during the Summer School from August 3 to August 5, a three-day public conference took place. Please see Kira Conference 2001 for more details.

The Kira Conference included presentations by the following speakers.

For more background information about the previous summer school, see Kira Summer School 2000, its poster (350K image file), and a brief article describing the background for the first summer school.

The deadline for application was April 1, 2001.
